Drinking Driver Program (Alcohol School)

The requirement to complete the Drinking Driver Program (also referred to as Alcohol School) with a Ventura County DUI conviction is actually not imposed by the Court. Rather, completing the program is a condition mandated by DMV so you can get your license back. On a Ventura County DUI case with an alcohol level below a .15, the 3 month program must be completed, with attendance to the class essentially once a week. There are morning and evening classes available, Monday through Friday. The cost for the 3 month program for 2009 is $843, and payment plans are available. On a Ventura County DUI case with an alcohol level above a .15, the 9 month program must be completed. Again, attendance is essentially once a week, and there are morning and evening classes available, Monday through Friday. The cost for the 3 month program for 2009 is $843, and payment plans are available. The cost for the 9 month program is $1851, and payment plans are available. If you are faced with a conviction for a second or third time Ventura County DUI, you must complete the 18 month program at a cost of $2581. Enrollment in the Drinking Driver Program is also a requirement of applying for a restricted driver’s license that allows you to drive to and from work, school, and alcohol school during your period of suspension. This is particularly important in Ventura County DUI cases where the DMV hearing was not requested within the 10 day period, and also in cases where the hearing has been held but lost.
