Priors

Prior to the year 2005, a DUI was priorable for 7 years, meaning that if you were convicted of a DUI, any subsequent DUI arrest within 7 years would be charged as repeat offense. However, the people of California voted to make DUIs priorable for a 10 year period in the year 2000. Additionally, the law was made retroactive, which means that if you received a DUI during the period when the law was 7 years, the new law applies to you, and your previous DUI is priorable for an additional 3 years.
